The word “chamomile” comes from the Greek words for “earth apple,” referring to its pleasant scent reminiscent of apples. Though an ancient plant, Roman Chamomile received its name from a 19th century English botanist who discovered it growing wild in the Colosseum. Chamomile is easy to start indoors and it’s one of the most beneficial herbs for our health and our gardens. This aromatic herb has a long history of medicinal use dating back to ancient Egypt. In addition to acting as a natural sedative, chamomile possesses antibacterial, anti fungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antispasmodic, and antiviral properties.
